TYPES OF SCORPIONS FOUND IN LAS VEGAS

Following are the scorpions found in Vegas:
– Bark Scorpions: The bark scorpion is the species feared the most. They are the most poisonous scorpion in the valley. If you a bark scorpion is on your property, more than likely many more are around. This scorpion is three inches long and light brown in color.
– Giant Hairy Scorpion: While the Arizona giant hairy is alarming in appearance, they are not as dangerous as the bark scorpions. They are about five inches long and have furry brownish bodies. Because they are so big, they may eat prey as large as lizards and hunt their prey.

ARE SCORPIONS DANGEROUS?

Scorpions inflict painful stings to people and pets. Minor problems such as pain, numbness, tingling and swelling at the site may occur in many people.  If the sting is from a bark scorpion you may experience more serious symptoms such as fast breathing, muscle weakness and twitching, elevated heart rate, and high blood pressure.
